#7 “Wind and the wheel”

All is silent now but for the wind. The wind that blows out there
unimpeded across that great northern sea of grass. Wind that one
time blew the sounds and smells and clouds of dust that brought
the great herds of buffalo. Wind that blew the dust and
grasshoppers. And blew away the buffalo and the rain and with it
any hope of remaining on this chosen land. Wind that blew my
grandfather north and my father west and out to sea, neither to
return.
